This bonbonniere / keepsake box in the iconic mid-century design, the Super Egg (or superellipse in Danish), is a rare treat to find.
The egg was produced in silver as well by Georg Jensen, but the silverplated one is not marked as such, and likely just produced by Piet Hein / Skjøde Skjern, who also originally produced the smaller, solid-metal supereggs.
In a few of the photos you can see the bonbonniere photographed next to the much smaller, and also very rare, silverplated pill-box.
Vintage Original Piet Hein Silver-Plated Super Egg Bonbonniere
Condition
The egg is in very nice vintage condition.
There is no wear-through to the silverplating. There are some surface marks, including to each of the ends where the egg has rested. There are also some small scratches in a few places.
Generally, it is in very nice condition.
Marks
This egg is not marked. This is not strange. The silverplated versions were not marked, whereas the silver ones were, as they were produced by Georg Jensen. Similarly, the modern steel ones are marked 'Piet Hein', but again, these vintage silverplated eggs were never marked.
