This jug is a truly rare and excellent piece of Scandinavian art deco design. It was made in the 1930s by Swedish silversmith Sylvia Stave.
Featuring a weighted insert on the inside of the lid, ensuring the lid keeps open throughout the pour, this jug represents excellence in both ingenuity and design aesthetic. A very special art deco piece.
Sylvia Stave Art Deco Silverplated Spherical Jug
Condition
The jug is in generally nice condition.
Of note is hits to the foot, as well as a small ‘press’ to one side - resulting in a barely-there indentation, flattening a small area.
There are some surface scrapes in a few places, as shown.
And finally, there are of course some areas where the plating has been rubbed off. The jug has been left in this non-re-silvered state to preserve its original condition. Should someone wish to have it re-plated, that is surely doable.
Marks
The bottom is marked ‘C.G.HG’ for C. G. Hallberg, and ‘A.L.P’ being a silver plate mark.
