Arno Malinowski is particularly well known for his work for Georg Jensen in the years immediately before and after WWII.
This brooch, as well as the others in the series, show clear signs of a world in healing with many hearts featured throughout.
There is an overall very subtle and simple approach to design in each piece, fitting with the time it was created.
This particular piece featuring a heart and arrow is one of the rarer designs by Malinowski. Perhaps it is Cupid's arrow through the heart.
This is a stunning piece, which embodies everything we love about early mid-century modern Danish design, and 1940s Georg Jensen.
Arno Malinowski Brooch in Sterling Silver for Georg Jensen 242A, ca. 1940
Condition
The brooch is in great vintage condition barring a small amount of bend to the loop above the brooch.
This is a common feature of these brooches, as the 3D-effect has made them vulnerable to exactly this issue.
Marks
The brooch is fully marked '925S STERLING GJ DENMARK 242A', noting of course that it is crafted from sterling silver, and that this is the design with reference number 242A.
The GJ logo is the one used in the time 1933-1944 on Georg Jensen designs.
